Long-time society member June Gilley Preston of Paris, Texas died March 3, 2010. She was interred at Colony Cemetery near Alba, Texas.
June was born July 14, 1931 in Alba, a daughter of Albert and Jewel Hathcox Gilley. She attended public schools in Alba,graduated from Alba High School, and obtained her Bachelors degree in Home Economics at East Texas State Teachers College. She completed a Masters degree in Guidance and Counseling at the University of Houston. She was a member of the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ for over 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Nathan Gilley; and two infant sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Geri Lynn Preston Van Stone, of Ft. Worth and Kimi D’Ann Preston Riley, of Garland; a grandson, Brandon William Riley, of Garland, who she affectionately referred to as “Best Boy”; a sister, Sonja Gae Gilley Holland, of Dallas; George L. Preston, the father of her daughters; and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
June was well-known to several members of the society. She had donated to the society genealogy research center a collection of photos: The June Preston Collection.
