Hello, I am trying to do some geneological research on my family.
My father says his father was at one time the sherrif of Wood County. But I cannot find any records supporting such claim. Could you help me?
His name is John Benjamin Upchurch “Doc”
He would of been “in office” sometime between 1910-1953
I appreciate any information you can find.

G. W. Upchurch was listed as the owner of 420 acres of property delinquent of taxes on 31 March 1915.
Andrew McCalla and Miss Maggie Upchurch obtained marriage license in December 1916.

I have the list of all sheriffs of Wood County and there are no Upchurchs listed. He could be a sheriff of Rains or Van Zandt County as Wood Coiunty was demarked from Van Zandt and later Rains County demarked from Wood County.
